A little information on Fundamentals of Biochemistry, 4e:
Fundamentals of Biochemistry by Voet/Voet/Pratt builds on previously learned material, and concentrates on key structures and reactions that are critical to multiple processes including the appropriate level of detail for the undergraduate course.
For instance, in the first of two enzyme chapters students are introduced to the enzymatic reaction mechanisms. Armed with an understanding of the enzymatic processes, the discussion then turns to kinetics, inhibitor effects and regulation of these interdependent reactions, setting the stage for understanding metabolism, the core of the 2 semester biochemistry course. The interdependency of the reactions is emphasized within the side by side coverage of catabolic and anabolic processes, enabling students to both recognize parallels in biological systems and that the chemical processes inherent in the systems are organized into elaborate and interdependent control networks.
